Part 2 of Our Colosseum Tour For Kids – Basilica of San Clemente
If the children haven’t had all the fun they can handle for the day at the Colosseum then we have even more intrigue in store for them as we take a short walk to begin an exciting tour of the Basilica of San Clemente, known as the “layer church” to find out how excavation after excavation revealed each layer underneath it.
This 12th-century church starts at street-level, however, your guide will then take you down deeper and deeper as you descend down the various layers and dating back centuries as you go further into the earth.
On the final level will find a surprise waiting for us with a 1st-century Roman dwelling. Kids will love the closest thing to time-travel that the modern-day world can offer while you enjoy the sensation of traversing centuries in one day!
